The Carbon Reduction Commitment - Energy Efficiency scheme is fast approaching with submission in April 2010 for evidence packs. It is estimated that 5,000 UK organisations will qualify for the scheme. It is estimated that these 5,000 organisations will pay out $1.4bn1 for carbon allowances in 2011, during the first phase of the scheme.
Latest research shows there is still widespread confusion amongst companies and many are not prepared for the April deadline. However, recent research shows that 77% of companies2 view the CRC as an opportunity to improve their building estates energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have recently released a user guide for participants. The guide provides insightful information regarding all aspects of the scheme and the key milestones companies must meet.
